Women's Squash Mounts Rally, Stuns Hamilton in Walker Cup Semifinals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Bonnie Cao won a thrilling five-setter at #7 to lift the Bowdoin College women's squash team to a 5-4 win over Hamilton in the semifinals of the Walker Cup on Saturday at Yale.

With the win, the Polar Bears advance to play for the "C" Division National Championship on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. against Wesleyan University.

Bowdoin opened with a pair of victories from the Wlodarczyk sisters, with Monica and Sara winning convincingly at #5 and #6 respectively, 3-0. Hamilton rallied with three victories to take a 3-2 advantage before Rachel Barnes evened things with a 3-1 victory at #2. After dropping another match to even the score, Bowdoin found themselves on the brink with Cao down 2-1 heading to the fourth set.

Cao won the fourth to send the match to a final set and earned a 12-10 victory to take the match 3-2 (8-11,11-5,8-11,11-7,12-10) and push Bowdoin over the top.

Bowdoin has split their two previous meetings with Wesleyan earlier this season, having taken a 5-4 win on January 18 and losing to the Cardinals 5-4 on February 2.
