Squash Teams Fall to Bates in Home-Openers on Friday Evening

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's and women's squash teams fell to Bates in their home-openers Friday evening at the Lubin Family Squash Center. The Bobcats took a pair of 7-2 decisions in the twinbill.

Both teams fall to 2-2 this season with the setback. The Polar Bears will travel to play a pair of matches at Middlebury this weekend, traveling to battle the Panthers on Saturday and St. Lawrence on Sunday in Vermont.

Maxwell Bearse earned a 3-1 win at #5 for the Bowdoin men while first-year Cyrus Nassikas picked up a 3-1 victory at #9. Will Winmill almost picked up another point for the Polar Bears, but dropped a 3-2 decision at #7.

On the women's side, Michaela Martin won a hard-fought 3-1 victory at #3 with Natalie LaPlant earning a tidy 3-0 win at #9 for the Polar Bears.

The Bowdoin women currently stand 19th in the latest College Squash Association rankings while the Polar Bear men rank 21st in the poll.
