Amherst Beats in Bowdoin in Mid-Week Women's Squash Match

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team dropped a 7-2 decision to 19th-ranked Amherst in a NESCAC match Wednesday at the Lubin Family Squash Center.

The Polar Bears, ranked 20th in the latest College Squash Association poll, fall to 1-6 on the season with the loss.

Bowdoin took points at #2 and #7 in the setback. Rachel Barnes took a convincing 3-0 win (12-10, 11-8, 11-6) for the Polar Bears at #2 while Bonnie Cao rallied twice to take a 3-2 win (11-13, 11-3, 11-5, 4-11, 11-8) at #7.

Two other Bowdoin players lost hard-fought matches, including Torey Lee (3-2 loss) at #1 and Michaela Martin (3-2 loss) at #5.

The Polar Bears will return to action this weekend with five matches in Connecticut. Bowdoin will play at Wesleyan on Friday evening (5:00 p.m.) before traveling to Yale for two matches each on Saturday and Sunday.
