BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's track and field team won the 2012 Aloha Relays this weekend at Magee-Samuelson Track.
The Polar Bears scored 196 points to defeat Southern Maine (131), Colby (122), Bates (82.50), Smith (63.50), Mount Holyoke (20) and Husson (9).
Elsa Millett won the 200 meter (25.40) and 400 meter competitions (57.41) for the Polar Bears on Saturday. Other winners on the track included Madelena Rizzo in the 5000 meters (18:51.29), Molly Porcher in the 10,000 meters (42:19.99), Emily Clark in the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.45) and Anna Ackerman in the 3000 meter steeplechase (11:18.00).
Bowdoin claimed a pair of relay wins in the 4x400 (Clark, Samantha Copland, Alee Wade and Millett in 4:09.87) and the 4x100 (Laura Peterson, Clark, Millett and Copland in 49.47). Annie Huyler won six of seven events and scored 4,116 points to easily win the heptathlon competition.
In the field events, Laura Peterson won both the long jump (5.37 meters) and triple jump (11.06 meters) for the Polar Bears. Bowdoin also earned wins courtesy of Erin Silva in the pole vault (3.50 meters), Randi London in the shot put (11.78 meters), and Katherine Harmon in the hammer throw (48.06 meters).
