LEWISTON, Maine - Bowdoin's Elsa Millett made State Meet history as the Polar Bear women's track and field team claimed its fourth consecutive Maine State Indoor Championship on Friday at Bates College.
Bowdoin scored 189 points to surpass Bates (143), Southern Maine (121) and Colby (119) for the crown.
Millett became the first athlete in the 33-year history of the event to win two running events in each of her four seasons as the Bowdoin senior won both the 200 meter (25.72) and 400 meter (57.69) races every winter of her career. Other state title winners for the Polar Bears included Olivia MacKenzie, who won the 5000 meters by over a minute (17:44.57), Hayleigh Kein in the high jump (1.58 meters), Erin Silva in the pole vault (3.49 meters) and Randi London in the shot put (11.72 meters).
Bowdoin's 4x200 meter relay team of Emily Clark, Clea Daoud, Samantha Copland and Alee Wade were also victorious in a time of 1:48.08.
