Women's Hockey Ices St. Norbert Before Record-Setting Crowd in Wisconsin

Box Score

GREEN BAY, Wis.  - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team picked up a win on the first leg of its midwestern trip on Saturday, 3-2, over St. Norbert College at the Resch Center in Green Bay.

The game, played as part of a one-admission doubleheader prior to a USHL game between the Green Bay Gamblers and Muskegon Lumberjacks, had a paid attendance of 3,277, setting an NCAA Division III single-game attendance record for women's ice hockey.

The ninth-ranked Polar Bears scored the first three goals and held off a third-period charge to improve to 5-1-1 and run their unbeaten streak to six-straight. The Green Knights fall to 4-5-2 overall with the setback.

Bowdoin grabbed the lead at 15:34 of the opening period on Chelsea MacNeil's third goal of the campaign and extended their advantage with a pair of goals in the second frame. Ariana Bourque found the back of the net less than one minute into the stanza before Kim Tess-Wanat notched a power play goal at 8:17.

Ali Parker trimmed the Polar Bear lead to 3-1 at 7:29 of the final frame and Isabell Lindstrom drew the Green Knights within a single goal with just 2:48 remaining.

But Bowdoin goaltender Tara Connolly and the Polar Bear defense held strong, maintaining the one-goal edge to preserve the win. Connolly made 22 saves in the game while Kaley Gibson made 22 stops in the loss for St. Norbert.
