Four Polar Bears Named All-NESCAC in Women's Lacrosse

BRUNSWICK, Maine - Four members of the Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team have been named in All-New England Small College Athletic Conference selections announced by the league on Wednesday. Senior defender Ingrid Oelschlager (Roanoke, Va.) was a First Team All-Conference selection while Liz Clegg (Hudson, Ohio), Katie Stewart (Chevy Chase, Md.) and Molly Paduda (Madison, Conn.) were recognized as Second Team choices.

Bowdoin, who finished second in the NESCAC this season with a 14-3 record, will make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2006 on Wednesday evening when they host Babson at 7:00 p.m.

After spending the first three years of her career racking up 58 goals as a midfielder, Oelschlager transitioned to a full-time defender and became one of the best in the league, racking up 27 ground balls, 25 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers. She back-boned a stellar Bowdoin defensive unit that led the conference by allowing a mere 6.65 goals per game this spring.

Liz Clegg garners her first All-Conference honor after an outstanding all-around campaign that included 26 goals, nine assists, and a team-leading 37 ground balls. The junior attacker carded a season-best four goals in Bowdoin's one-goal loss to top-ranked Trinity on March 19.

Katie Stewart netted her second-straight All-NESCAC nod after a phenomenal two-way season in the midfield. The junior scored 30 goals, grabbed a team-high 36 ground balls and caused a team-best 23 turnovers on the year. She had a season-best five goals in Bowdoin's April 23 win over Williams that secured the #2 seed for the conference tournament.

Molly Paduda was one of just two first-years named to the All-NESCAC teams after an excellent debut campaign. The rookie defender also contributed heavily to Bowdoin's stellar defense, causing 12 turnovers and netting 29 ground balls for the Polar Bears, including a season-best four in a NESCAC Quarterfinal win against Amherst on May 1.
