BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals of the game and rolled to its third-straight win in a 21-2 triumph over the University of Southern Maine. The 15th-ranked Polar Bears improve to 5-1 overall this season as the Huskies fall to 1-6 on the season.
Katie Stewart and Carolyn Gorajek scored three times apiece for the Polar Bears, who improve to 13-0 all-time against Southern Maine. Katy Dissinger added two goals and two assists in the victory while Devin Hardy, Jordan Smith and Liz Clegg also had two scores apiece. Southern Maine's goals came courtesy of Mary Vaughan and Rosie Forster.
All three of Gorajek's goals came in Bowdoin's opening 8-0 spurt over the first 18:17 of the contest. The Polar Bears held a 13-1 advantage at halftime and used a 6-0 surge out of halftime to push their lead to 19-1. Bowdoin held a 46-8 edge in shots and forced 29 turnovers.
Tara Connolly played the first half for Bowdoin, stopping two shots and allowing a goal. Alexandra Brown made a save and permitted one goal in the second half. Southern Maine's Samantha Kiesel stopped 16 shots for the Huskies.
