BRUNSWICK, Maine - The 21st-ranked Bowdoin College women's squash team bounced back from a loss Wednesday to defeat 20th-ranked Colby, 6-3, in a NESCAC match at the Lubin Family Squash Center on Thursday night. The Polar Bears win their first conference match of the season and improve to 3-11 (1-3 NESCAC) overall.
Bowdoin got contributions from all over their lineup, led by a 3-1 victory from Lauren Gesswein in the #1 position as the senior captain improved to 9-5 this season. An impressive showing from the middle of the ladder, courtesy of 3-0 wins from Elizabeth Schetman (#4), Bonnie Cao (#5) and Alexandra Peacock-Villada (#6), was critical in the victory. Michaela Martin and Gretchen Williams secured the victory with points at the number eight and nine spots, respectively.
The Polar Bears will conclude their regular season with a pair of home matches this weekend against Tufts (Saturday at 2:00) and Connecticut College (Sunday at 3:00).
