LEWISTON, Maine - The Bates College women's squash team survived several strong challenges in taking a 9-0 win over Bowdoin on Wednesday evening at the Bates Squash Center. The 13th-ranked Bobcats improve to 10-8 (4-3 NESCAC) while the 21st-ranked Polar Bears drop to 2-11 (0-3 NESCAC). Bowdoin will host 20th-ranked Colby Thursday night at 6:00 p.m.
Bates withstood stiff challenges at the top two positions on the ladder as well as the ninth spot, where senior Cheri-Ann Parris, junior Mimi Neal and senior Emily Russell, respectively, prevailed in four games apiece. Bowdoin senior Lauren Gesswein, junior Elizabeth Warner and first-year Gretchen Williams all won individual games for the Polar Bears, at the first, second, and ninth positions, respectively.
