CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Bowdoin men's and women's squash teams both picked up victories in action last weekend at Harvard University. The Polar Bear men defeated Stanford but fell to Amherst and St. Lawrence while the women defeated St. Lawrence but fell to Stanford, Amherst, Franklin & Marshall and Mount Holyoke.
The women's team stands at 2-10 overall this winter while the men are 3-8.
Lauren Gesswein was the highlight of the weekend for the women's squad, winning four matches to improve to 8-4 this year. Playing at the #1 position, she earned the lone Bowdoin point in three of the matches and led off the 9-0 sweep of St. Lawrence.
Barrett Takesian went a perfect 3-0 playing at the number five slot for the men's team, earning points against all three opponents to improve to 7-2 and extend his winning streak to seven matches overall. William Fantini and Rahul Madan Mohan also recorded two wins apiece for the Polar Bears.
The Polar Bear women will return to action at Bates on Wednesday and at home against Colby on Thursdau. Both squads will host a weekend full of action at the Lubin Center beginning on Friday, January 28 when the men host Boston College.
