BOX SCORE
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Carolyn Gorajek scored the overtime
game-winner to lead the Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team to a
dramatic 13-12 win over Williams on Saturday. The Polar Bears,
ranked 15th nationally, improve to 9-4 (5-2 NESCAC) while the
14th-ranked Ephs drop to 9-5 (4-4 NESCAC).
The tally capped a fantastic day for Gorajek, who led Bowdoin with
four goals in the victory. Liz Clegg added two goals and three draw
controls while McKenna Teague and Katie Stewart also scored a pair
of the Polar Bears. Williams was led by six scores from Sam
Weinstein.
Bowdoin seemed to be in command in the second half, when a
three-goal run opened up an 11-6 advantage with just over 20
minutes remaining. But the Ephs stormed back thanks to Weinstein,
who scored five times in the final 19:08, sparking a 6-1 Williams
run to end regulation and force overtime. After two scoreless
overtime sessions, Gorjak netted the game-winner to give the Polar
Bears their sixth-straight win over the Ephs dating back to
2005.
Tara Connolly made 12 stops in net for the Polar Bears, who have
won eight of their last nine outings.
