BRUNSWICK, Maine - Dana Heritage scored four goals and added
five assists to lead the
Middlebury women's lacrosse team to a 18-7 win over Bowdoin on
Saturday afternoon. The Panthers win their 27th straight game over
the Polar Bears and improve to 5-3 (3-2 NESCAC). Bowdoin sees their
five-game winning streak come to an end as they fall to 6-4 on the
year.
Heritage's nine-point effort led the Panthers to a season-high 18
goals. Sally Ryan, Chase Delano, and Michaela Colbert added three
goals apiece while Margaret Souther chipped in two goals and four
assists. Bowdoin was led by five goals from Katie Herter.
The Panthers pulled away with a late five-goal run in the opening
half to take an 8-3 lead at intermission. Middlebury quickly pushed
the lead to ten goals early in the second half and led by as many
as 11 tallies in the second half.
Tara Connolly made six saves (13 goals against) in 38 minutes for
Bowdoin before being relieved by Alexandra Brown, who made zero
saves in the remainder. Herter led the Polar Bears with five draw
controls while Katie Stewart had three caused turnovers.
Middlebury's Lily Nguyen made 11 saves, allowing six goals, in
56:10 before Becca Shaw came in for the final 3:50 (zero saves, one
goal against). Stephanie Gill led the Panthers with six draw
controls.
