Amherst Completes Weekend Sweep of Women's Hockey

AMHERST, Mass. - The second-ranked Amherst College women's ice hockey team took a 5-0 Senior Day victory over Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon. The Jeffs sweep their weekend series with the Polar Bears and improve to 15-2-4 overall while the Polar Bears dip to 9-9-2 on the season.

Five different players scored for the hosts, as Geneva Lloyd and Cianna Wyshnytzky notched first period tallies before Kate Dennett added a second-period goal. Michelle McGann and Molly Malloy sealed the win with third-period scores for Amherst.

Kayla Lessard made 40 saves in net for the Polar Bears, finishing with 77 saves in the two games this weekend. Caroline Hu made 17 stops for the Jeffs, who went 1-3 on the power play. Bowdoin went 0-2 on the power play for the game.

Bowdoin will return to action at home next weekend when they host Senior Weekend games against Trinity and Wesleyan on Friday and Saturday.
