BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College men's basketball team
pulled away from Maine
Farmington in the second half en route to a 66-46 victory at
Morrell Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The Polar Bears bounce
back from Wednesday's loss to St. Joseph's and improve to 8-3 this
season while the Beavers remain winless at 0-8.
Farmington hung with the Polar Bears until midway through the
second period, trailing by just a single point after a 9-0 run
early in the half. After Roy Burdin netted a jump shot with 13:45
remaining, the Beavers trailed by just a single point, 39-38.
Bowdoin rebounded with a decisive 12-0 run, capped by a Ryan
O'Connell three-pointer, to take a commanding 51-38 edge with nine
minutes to go.
The Polar Bears featured three players in double figures, led by
15 from Mark Phillips, who also added a team-high eight rebounds.
Randy DeFeo totaled 11 points and seven assists while O'Connell
finished with 11 for the hosts. Mike Hauser scored nine points and
also dished out seven assists for Bowdoin, who held a 40-28
advantage on the boards.
The Beavers were led by 15 points and eight boards from Eric
Taylor, while Eric Lelansky ended with 13 points in the loss.
