HENNIKER, N.H. - The Bowdoin College and New England College
women's ice hockey teams played to a 1-1 overtime tie at the Lee
Clement Arena on Wednesday evening. The tie marked the first of the
Pilgrim's season, as they adjust their overall record to
5-7-1, while the Bears even their record to 4-4-2 overall with
their second consecutive overtime game.
Bowdoin would strike first with just under seven minutes to play
in the second period. Kayte Holtz would score the power play goal
on assists from Shana Natelson and Dominique Lozzi. The Polar Bears
would carry the 1-0 advantage into the third period. With 6:40
elapsed, NEC's Danielle O'Leary would connect on passes
from Taryn Moffat and Alyssa Hoot to even the score at 1-1. The two
teams would battle through a scoreless overtime period before
settling the 1-1 tie.
Playing in the net for the Pilgrims was Teraysa White who finished
with 31 saves. In net for Bowdoin College was Kayla Lessard who
stopped 18 shots. The Bears outshot NEC 32-19. NEC will be back in
action on Friday, January 8, hosting a 4:00 p.m. matchup with Holy
Cross at the Lee Clement Arena. Bowdoin will return to action on
Saturday, January 10, hosting Sacred Heart at 2:00 p.m.
