WATERVILLE, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team
scored three times in the third period to complete a season sweep
of rival Colby, 4-1, on Tuesday evening at Alfond Rink.
The Polar Bears, who stand at 7-6-2 this season, improve to
25-26-6 all-time against the Mules and turn a sweep of Colby for
the first time since 2004-05. Bowdoin defeated their Waterville
foes 7-0 at Watson Arena earlier this season. Colby falls to 2-8-5
on the year.
The hosts scored first on Tuesday evening, as Kaitlyn Conway
scored just 3:58 into the game to give the Mules the early lead.
Bowdoin was able to draw even in the second period as tri-captain
Shana Natelson found the back of the net on the power play for her
second goal of the season at 12:32.
The Polar Bears wasted little time taking the lead for good in the
final frame as Kayte Holtz took a feed from Jill Campbell for the
game-winning goal just 26 ticks in the third. Shelagh Merrill
sealed the win with a pair of goals in the final period.
Kayla Lessard made 19 stops in the victory for Bowdoin, improving
to 5-2-1 on the year. Loni Pisani stopped 29 shots for Colby.
