Squash Teams Tipped by Williams in First Matches of 2010

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College squash teams suffered setbacks in their first action since winter break as both teams dropped to Williams in action Sunday afternoon at the Lubin Family Squash Center.

The women's team dropped a 9-0 decision to eighth-ranked Williams College to fall to 2-2 overall this season. The men's team fell 8-1 to the 10th-ranked Ephs and stand at 3-2.

David Funk was the lone Polar Bear to steal a point in Sunday's action, claiming a 3-2 victory (8-11,9-11,11-2,11-2,11-7) at the number three spot in the men's match. Peter Cipriano (#4) and Thai Ha-Ngoc (#8) also posted valiant efforts in 3-2 losses. Williams swept all of the women's matches by 3-0 scores with the best Polar Bear performance coming from Elizabeth Schetman in the third position, who hung close in a 11-6,11-7,11-9 defeat.

The Polar Bear women are ranked 15th in the latest CSA National Poll while the men sit 18th. Both teams will travel to the Yale Round Robin next weekend in New Haven for matches on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
