BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team posted
five victories in an outstanding final home weekend of the season,
improving their record to 14-9 heading into the CSA Team Nationals
hosted by Harvard this coming weekend. The Polar Bears dropped
Tufts (8-1), George Washington (6-3) and Northeastern (8-1) in CSA
play while also earning a pair of wins against the University of
Toronto (6-3, 6-3).
Bowdoin's top six players were unbeaten in all five matches, led
by number one singles player Elena Laird. Lauren Gesswein, Kate
Gormley, Alex Franchesci, Biz Gillespie and Elizabeth Warner also
posted 5-0 marks to key the Bowdoin victories. The Polar Bears have
won a season-high seven consecutive matches heading into Nationals.
Complete draws will be announced this week.
Franchesci closed out a stellar regular season and finishes as the
Polar Bears' top statistical player for the campaign with 12
victories. Gillespie, Gormley, Laird and Warner all earned 11 wins
while Gesswein closed out the season with an impressive 10-2
record.
