BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team
bounced rival Colby, 7-2, on Wednesday evening. The Polar Bears
claim the Colby-Bates-Bowdoin Championship and improve to 9-9
overall this season.
Bowdoin dominated the top of the ladder, winning the top six
positions. Elena Laird took a 3-1 victory at the top spot and swept
the next five positions 3-0 courtesy of Lauren Gesswein, Kate
Gormley, Alex Franchesci, Biz Gillespie and Elizabeth Warner. Katie
Cushing also earned a point at the number eight spot for the Polar
Bears.
The squad returns to action with a huge weekend of home matches,
beginning Friday evening against the University of Toronto. The
Polar Bears will play three times on Saturday, against Tufts,
George Washington and Toronto. The weekend will close out on Sunday
against Northeastern.
