HARTFORD, Conn. - First-year goalkeeper Sage Santangelo made 23
saves to lead the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team to a 3-0
shutout of Trinity on Saturday afternoon. The Bantams fall to
12-8-2 overall and 7-6-1 in the NESCAC with the loss, while Bowdoin
improves to 8-10-1 and 7-8-1 in the league, with their sixth
straight victory.
Bowdoin scored late goals in each period starting with one from
senior Lindsay McNamara, who scored just 11 seconds before the end
of the first period to put the Polar Bears up 1-0. Bowdoin
sophomore Jill Campbell added another in the second with less than
three minutes remaining in the period. Freshman Dominique Lozzi
followed up with a third goal midway through the final period to
put the game out of reach for the Bantams.
Trinity junior goalkeeper Isabel Iwachiw made 31 saves on the
afternoon. The Polar Bears have completed their NESCAC schedule and
will need help in order to garner a home first-round game. Playoff
pairings will be announced next Saturday, February 21.
