LEWISTON, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's squash team
rallied from a two-game deficit to take a 5-4 victory over rival
Bates on Tuesday evening. The Polar Bears earned wins at the top
five positions to improve to 6-8 this season.
Led off by a 3-0 sweep at the number one spot by Elena Laird,
Lauren Gesswein captured a 3-1 victory at number two. Kate Gormley
and Alex Franchesci netted 3-0 victories for the Polar Bears at
numbers three and four while Elizabeth Gillespie clinched the win
for Bowdoin with a 3-1 victory at number five.
Bowdoin, the third seed in the upcoming NESCAC Championship
Tournament, will play the winner of Friday night's match between
Hamilton and Connecticut College at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Trinity
College will host the event, which runs through the weekend.
