BRUNSWICK, Maine - First-year Dominique Lozzi scored twice to
lead the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team to a 3-1
exhibition win over Canadian school Mount Allison on Saturday. The
Polar Bears will face the Mounties again on Sunday at noon.
After Bowdoin peppered the net in the early going, Mount Allison
skated to the early lead, scoring first at 4:08 on a goal from Sara
Reid. The Polar Bears were able to tie the game before the end of
the first period, as Lozzi netted her first goal of the game at
18:03, deadlocking the contest heading into the second frame.
A two-goal second-period was the difference for Bowdoin, as
Lozzi gave the Polar Bears the lead just 15 seconds into the
period. Maria Nicolais added a score at 10:55.
Sage Santangelo was strong between the pipes for Bowdoin,
stopping 24 shots for the Polar Bears. Meghan Corley-Byrne made 32
saves for the Mounties.
