BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin College women's lacrosse team has
earned a return trip to the NCAA Tournament, and received a
first-round bye in pairings announced on Sunday night. The Polar
Bears will play in a regional next Saturday, May 13 at Middlebury
College against the winner of Wednesday's Colby and Plymouth State
contest.
The Polar Bears (14-4) reached the NESCAC Championship game on
Sunday, falling to Middlebury 14-8. Bowdoin has played both
Plymouth State and Colby already this season, defeating Plymouth on
April 9 (15-7), but falling to Colby on April 19 (13-11).
Saturday's game is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., with Middlebury facing
the winner of Union and Eastern Connecticut in the early game at
11:30. The regional final is set for Sunday, May 14 at 1:00 p.m.
with the winner advancing to the Final Four in Hoboken, N.J. on May
20-21.
Bowdoin, Middlebury and Colby were joined by Amherst in the NCAA
Tournament field, giving the NESCAC a Tournament-high four teams in
the field.
