BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin sophomore Kiran Garapati (Chicago, Ill.) has been named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Division III Player to Watch in national awards announced this week.
 
Playing from the No. 6 singles line just a year ago, Garapati has risen all the way up to the No. 2 singles position this season and has thrived. Ranked No. 18 in the ITA Singles Rankings, Garapati went 21-10 this season in singles and doubles, earning wins over many of the nation's top players. His efforts helped lead Bowdoin to the finals in Chattanooga, Tenn., where the Polar Bears finished as national quarterfinalists.
 
Garapati was selected to participate in the NCAA Singles Championship this season as well for his efforts throughout the season and was named Second Team All-NESCAC and the Northeast Region ITA Player to Watch.
