Jake Adicoff ‘19 and Peter Wolter Claim Gold In Sprint Classic VI at Paralympics

VAL DI FIEMME, Italy - Jake Adicoff and Peter Wolter (Middlebury '22) claimed gold in the 1.5K Sprint Classic at the Paralympics on Tuesday, March 10. This marked the first of four events in the games for Adicoff, as Wolter served as his guide in the visually impaired category.

During the qualifying round in which eight pairs advance, the duo finished in third with a clocking of 2:27.58. Adicoff and Wolter claimed first in the second semifinal heat to advance to the finals.

In the gold-medal race, the pair was in third as the competitors approached the incline. Wolter surged ahead with Adicoff on his heels as the tandem grabbed the lead. With a pair from China right behind, Wolter slid into the outer track down the stretch, and Adicoff sprinted across the line first to claim the gold medal. The pair stopped the clock in 2:44.7, just two seconds ahead of China.

Adicoff is back in action with guide Reid Goble (Michigan Tech '21) on Wednesday in the 10K classic and on Saturday in the mixed relay. Wolter rejoins Adicoff for the grand finale on Sunday in the 20K.
