BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College goaltender
Jacob Osborne (Gloucester, Ont.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week.
Osborne was named the Most Valuable Player of the inaugural Lobster Pot Tournament on January 2-3, as the Polar Bears claimed the first-ever tournament title featuring the four Division III men's hockey programs in Maine. The sophomore posted a 23-save shutout in a semifinal win over the University of Southern Maine and followed it up with a 31-save effort against No. 7 University of New England, holding the nation's third-ranked scoring offense to a pair of goals in a 6-2 victory. For the weekend, Osborne posted a 1.00 GAA and a .964 save percentage.
The Polar Bears will return to NESCAC play on the road this weekend, at Hamilton on Friday (7:00 p.m.) and at Amherst on Saturday (3:00 p.m.).
