FALMOUTH, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team started off 2026 strong with a 5-0 opening round win over the University of Southern Maine in the inaugural Lobster Pot.
The Polar Bears improve to 7-2-1, while the Huskies drop to 5-5. Bowdoin advances to play the University of New England for the Lobster Pot Championship on Saturday.
Game Highlights
- The Polar Bears jumped on the board at 2:47 in the first period. Jackson Holl carried the puck in from the left corner and put away a no-angle wrister.
- Holl made it 2-0 on a power play goal midway through the frame. Ricky Volpe fed Holl from the right point to the center for a one-timer over the goalie's shoulder.
- Bowdoin tallied another power play goal, this one in the second period, to go ahead 3-0 at 11:37. Aidan Lyons sent a puck from the left side to the far post for a back-door tip by Bryce Bollman.
- Isaac Abbott added another Polar Bear goal in the first three minutes of the final period. After a series of passes allowed Abbott to put a shot on net, he shoved home his own rebound.
- The Polar Bears continued to produce on the power play as Jayson Alegria scored with 2:16 remaining in the game. Alegria carried the puck from the right corner to the near side of the goal before backhanding a shot past Loic Morin.
