BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin baseball team saw five players honored with NESCAC post-season awards for the first time in over twenty years.
The Polar Bears put together the best start in program history with an 11-0 run to begin the year and ended the season with an overall record of 24-11. Senior first baseman
Kevin Murray (Stony Point, N.Y.) was named a First Team selection, while
Liam Foley (Wrentham, Mass.),
Lukas Tsai (Fair Lawn, N.J.),
Will Bordes (Groton, Mass.), and
Jason Bogdanos (New York, N.Y.) were all Second Team picks.
Murray earned his third straight All-NESCAC honor and appears on the First Team for the first time in his career. The senior infielder appears in the top-20 of the conference in nearly all offensive categories, including third in home runs (8). Murray started every game for the Polar Bears. Defensively, he had a .986 fielding percentage and is second in the league with 263 putouts. Bowdoin was one of the top two teams in double plays turned, and Murray was part of 20 out of 23.
Junior
Liam Foley earns his first all-conference honors of his career after lead Bowdoin with a .363 batting average and appearing in all but one game for the Polar Bears this season. Foley had a 1.028 OPS and his .518 on base percentage was second in the conference.
Junior
Lukas Tsai is a Second Team selection for the second consecutive year. Tsai hit .358 and played in every Bowdoin game this season. The junior had a team-leading 38 hits and sits in the top-ten of the league for on base percentage. In the field, Tsai had a .985 fielding percentage.
Will Bordes played a combination of infield and pitcher for the Polar Bears as the junior earned his first all-conference recognition. Bordes was second in the conference with five saves on the mound and another three wins. The junior made 13 appearances on the mound with ten strikeouts and just two walks with a 1.04 ERA. At the plate, Bordes was fourth on the team with a .302 batting average. Of his 32 hits, seven were doubles and two were home runs.
Senior pitcher
Jason Bogdanos earned Second Team honors for the first time in his career following a season with 54 innings pitched. Bogdanos posted a 3.67 ERA, good for seventh in the league, while being sixth in innings pitched. The senior led the Polar Bears with 40 strikeouts and allowed just 22 earned runs.
