BRUNSWICK, Maine - For the first time since 2014, the Bowdoin College women's ice hockey team will host a NESCAC Quarterfinal at Watson Arena. The fourth-seeded Polar Bears (16-7-0, 10-6-0 NESCAC) will host fifth-seeded Hamilton (11-11-2, 6-8-2 NESCAC) at 1:00 p.m. Saturday to open the conference tournament.
No tickets are required for Saturday's game, which will be carried live by the
Northeast Sports Network.
In the NESCAC Tournament for the fourth time in the last six seasons, Bowdoin is the No. 4 seed for the first time since 2014, the last time the Polar Bears played on home ice for the quarterfinals. Bowdoin's 16 wins are the most since the 2012-13 season and the Polar Bears are seeking their first NESCAC Tournament win since the 2018 campaign.
Hamilton, the 2024 NESCAC Runners-Up, is the No. 5 seed for the first time since 2012. The Continentals, who have won seven of their last 11 games, are making their 10th straight appearance in the tournament. Bowdoin improved to 4-0 against Hamilton in the NESCAC postseason series with a 3-1 win in the 2018 quarterfinals, but will be looking for a measure of revenge on Saturday as the Continentals swept the regular season series by the scores of 2-1 and 3-1 on February 7 & 8.
The NESCAC Women's Ice Hockey Championship gets underway on Saturday, March 1 with quarterfinal games at the higher seeds. The highest remaining seed among the quarterfinal winners will host the semifinals on March 8 and the championship game on March 9.
