WATERVILLE, Maine – Bowdoin first-year
Natalie Garre won three NESCAC titles and was named Rookie of the Year at the 2025 NESCAC Championship meet.
The Polar Bears finished seventh overall with 701 points, comfortably outscoring eight place Bates with 579.
Meet Highlights
- Garre became the first Polar Bear to earn NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors. The first-year won three individual titles and set numerous records at the meet. Garre narrowly missed out on an NCAA A-Cut time in the 500 free with a meet and pool record of 4:47.63.
- Garre set a new meet record in her championship swim in the 1650 (16:35.58) and also won the 400 IM with a pool record 4:21.03. Elizabeth Walsh finished runner-up to Garre in the 400 IM (4:25.15).
- Walsh earned another podium finish with a bronze result in the 200 IM (2:05.24). Harper Stevenson also swam in the finals and finished sixth with a 2:06.91.
- Stevenson swam in the finals for the 200 free (1:52.69) and earned fifth.
- Sadie Smith made the finals for both the 1 and 3 meter diving events. Smith finished fourth on the 1 meter with 427.95 points. Smith posted a runner-up result on the 3 meter board (452.90) and was joined by Ursula von Goeler in the finals (398.95).
- Sydney Lillis and Walsh both swam in the 200 fly finals and finished back-to-back in sixth and seventh. Both swimmers posted faster times in their prelims than the finals. Stevenson swam in the consolation finals and finished in 2:06.24.
- Lillis swam in both the consolation finals for the 100 fly (57.52) and the 400 IM (4:33.94).
- Liv Smith also appeared in a trio of consolation finals for the 50 backstroke (27.04), 100 backstroke (57.57), and 200 backstroke (2:07.92.)
