Ray Cuevas Named NESCAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin sophomore Ray Cuevas (Ipswich, Mass.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Cuevas averaged 24.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in a pair of non-conference wins last week against Springfield and MIT. Cuevas scored 29 points against Springfield, going 6-for-7 from three-point range, with eight boards and four assists. After being held to two first-half points at MIT, Cuevas scored 17 of his game-high 19 points in the second stanza as Bowdoin rallied for the road win.

For the week, Cuevas connected on 61 percent of his shots from the field (19-31), 75 percent from long distance (9-12), and has made his last 37 free throws dating back to November 16.

The Polar Bears will be back in action Wednesday night when they host Bates, in a game that was pushed from Tuesday due to inclement weather.
