Men's Basketball Secures NESCAC Postseason Bid With Win Over Williams

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's basketball team knocked off Williams on Saturday afternoon in Morrell Gymnasium, 66-56, picking up their first win over the Ephs since February of 2019. The Polar Bears improve to 15-7 (5-3 NESCAC) and secure their first NESCAC Tournament appearance since 2022. The Ephs fall to 11-11 (0-8 NESCAC) with the setback.
 
Game Highlights
  • A physical first half saw the teams deadlocked at 27 apiece heading into halftime as Ray Cuevas scored ten of Bowdoin's points in the first twenty minutes.
  • Williams scored the first four points of the second half, and still led by that amount, 41-37, with 12:30 to go in the game.
  • Five points from Alex Halpern sparked an 11-0 Bowdoin run in a two minute span that gave the hosts the lead for good, as a Cuevas three-pointer pushed the lead to 48-41, with 10:30 to go.
  • Williams could get no closer than that for the remainder of the contest, as Bowdoin pushed their lead to as many as 13 down the stretch to seal the win.
By The Numbers
  • Cuevas scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Polar Bears as Mason Dawkins scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • Benedek Maly had ten rebounds and eight points in the win.
  • Bowdoin finished at 41% shooting for the game while holding Williams to 35% and scoring 11 second chance points.
