BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin women's swimming & diving team defeated visiting UMaine and the men suffered a setback in Saturday action in Greason Pool.
The women defeated the Black Bears by an 189-150 margin as the men fell 178-146.
Women's Meet Highlights
- Liv Smith had a fantastic meet with first place finishes in the 50 backstroke (28.01), the 100 backstroke (59.52), and the 200 backstroke (2:09.04).
- Lizzie Walsh won a pair of individual races with victories in the 400 IM (4:26.92) and the 200 breaststroke (2:23.32)
- Sadie Smith and Ursula von Goeler finished one-two in both diving events. Smith scored 272.09 on the 1 meter and 270.00 on the 3 meter. Von Goeler finished with 268.05 and 253.87 points on the 1 meter and 3 meter, respectively.
- Ava Wong and Harper Stevenson finished back-to-back at the top of the podium in the 50 fly (27.35 and 27.44), while Wong also finished first in the 100 fly (59.63).
- Walsh (2:07.2), Natalie Garre (2:09.63), and Stevenson (2:11.20) swept the 200 IM podium.
- The Polar Bears performed a similar feat in the 200 fly as Sydney Lillis, Garre, and Katie Coulter swept the first three spots with times of 2:06.03, 2:07.50, and 2:10.22.
- Garre swam away from the competition for a commanding win in the 500 free at 4:57.58.
- Ruqayyah Abouraya earned second in the 50 breaststroke (31.80) and Ava Harrington did the same in the 200 free (1:58.02).
- Nina Fearon snagged a first place finish in the 100 free (55.80).
- Garre, Harrington, Abouraya, and Mia Wonacott combined to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.22.
Men's Meet Highlights
- Alex Grand'Pierre swept the 50 and 100 breaststroke titles with a 25.94 and 57.65.
- Penn Lee snagged the 200 breaststroke top finish with a time of 2:11.80
- Liam Roehr and Lee finished two-three in the 50 backstroke (24.37 and 24.57).
- Roehr won the 200 back (1:56.54) and the 100 back (52.61). Owen Weller tagged the wall for second in the 100 (54.74).
- Jack Tran and Getchell Gibbons both grabbed first place finishes. Tran earned the top spot in the 50 fly (22.51) and Gibbons in the 200 free (1:45.43).
- Rhys Edwards and Raphael Grand'Pierre went one-two in the 100 free with a tight 47.07 and 47.09 finish. Edwards also finished just before Tran in the 50 free for a second-third result. Edwards posted a 21.22 and Tran a 21.80.
- Phillip Bianco earned a second place finish in the 500 free with a time of 4:50.85.
- Dylan Zhang and Michael Mahedy finished in the second and third sports of the 200 IM with times of 1:59.18 and 2:01.63.
- Edwards, Alex Grand'Pierre, John McGowan, and Lee combined for a 1:25.02 in the 200 free relay. The Polar Bear relay of Raphael Grand'Pierre, Gibbons, Jaran Depew, and Micah Sher snagged second.
