LAST WEEK
Bowdoin last a
nailbiter to Tufts in Medford, 23-21, as a late interception in Jumbo territory sealed the victory for the home team. Middlebury suffered a season-opening
43-7 setback at home to Wesleyan.
POLAR BEAR LEADERS
Bowdoin's
Robbie Long is the league's leading rusher (95 yards) after week one and is also tied for the league lead in touchdowns (two). Defensively,
Dan Fiore and
Gordon Gozdeck are among the NESCAC leaders in tackles (ten apiece).
Aidan Reidy leads the conference in both tackles for loss (3.0) and sacks (2.0).
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS
Middlebury's Patrick Jamin is tied for the NESCAC lead following week one with seven receptions while Ethan Vashel recorded a career-high 41-yard run and a single-game-best 58 rushing yards in the Panthers' season opener versus Wesleyan. Tomás Kenary tied Middlebury's program record for most blocked kicks in a career with a block of a Wesleyan attempt on Saturday to bring his total to four.
Â
LAST MEETING
In a game that featured four tie scores, the
Panthers pulled away late and held off a Bowdoin rally in a 34-27 win in Vermont. Both teams gained over 500 yards of total offense on the afternoon, but the difference proved to be three Bowdoin turnovers (two interceptions, one fumble).
 Â
BOWDOIN vs. MIDDLEBURY – ALL-TIME
Despite the long-time rivalry between the schools in most sports, the football teams have played just 28 times due to the NESCAC's rotating schedule prior to 2018. Middlebury has won nine straight in the series dating back to 2012 with Bowdoin's last win coming in 2009 (the teams didn't play in 2010, '11, '14, '16 and '20). The Panthers lead the all-time series 20-7-1.
