BRUNSWICK, Maine – For the first time in program history, the Bowdoin softball team has a First Team All-American as sophomore
Anika Ewert (Newport Coast, Calif.) was recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association in its end-of-year honors this week.
The 2024 NESCAC Player of the Year, Ewert was also a First Team All-NESCAC and First Team All-Region selection this spring.
Ewert led the NESCAC in batting average (.551), on-base percentage (.603), hits (76), runs (62), and stolen bases (51), setting single-season school records in each of those categories. The sophomore centerfielder finished the year with a 1.204 OPS and was one of three Polar Bears to start all 40 games and struck out once all season.
The third Polar Bear to be named NESCAC Player of the Year, Ewert is Bowdoin's second All-American overall, joining
Angelina Mayers who was a Third Team NFCA All-American last year. Ewert helped Bowdoin go 24-16 this spring and advance to the semifinals of the NESCAC Softball Championship for the first time since 2018.
