Softball Season Ends In Semifinals Against Wesleyan

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Bowdoin softball team saw its season come to an end in the conference semifinals with a tight 4-3 setback to Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Polar Bears conclude the season with a 21-19 record after advancing to the semifinals for the second straight year. Bowdoin earned the seven seed in the conference tournament and upset second-seeded Williams to advance to Sunday.
 
Game Highlights
  • Wesleyan jumped ahead with a four-run third inning.
  • Bowdoin mounted a slow but steady rally to close the gap, starting with an RBI double from Ellie Sullivan to left center.
  • Chloe Garcia plated another run for Bowdoin in the fifth inning, flying out to center, and bringing in Penelope Fong-Picariello.
  • Elise Siciliano added another sacrifice fly in the sixth to pull Bowdoin within one.
  • With a runner on second in the bottom of the seventh, Garcia nearly hit a walk-off homer but missed by inches in foul territory.
  • The Polar Bears could not find an equalizer in the final inning.
