Bowdoin College Polar Bears (27-2)
Bowdoin is playing in its 16th "Sweet Sixteen" in school history, the most of any NESCAC school...the Polar Bears returned to the mountaintop of NESCAC basketball this winter, claiming their tenth conference title - the most in league history - and first since 2020...Bowdoin then dispatched Western New England and UMass Dartmouth to earn its fourth-ever home Sectional (2004, '19, '20)...NESCAC Player of the Year
Sydney Jones recorded the fourth triple-double in school history (12 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists) in the second round win over the Corsairs... she is the sixth Bowdoin player to be honored as conference player of the year, joining Lora Trenkle (2002 & 2004), Eileen Flaherty (2007), Shannon Brady (2016), Kate Kerrigan (2018), and
Abby Kelly (2019)... second year head coach
Megan Phelps and assistant
Abby Kelly were named the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year after a first-place finish in the league standings and conference crown...Phelps was a player for Bowdoin from 2011-15, and assistant coach from 2017-20, while Kelly played for Bowdoin from 2015-19...Bowdoin is looking for its fourth trip to the Division III Final Four...the Polar Bears are 27-2 all-time in NCAA games in Morrell Gymnasium.
Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets (22-6)
The Ohio Athletic Conference Regular Season Champions, the Yellow Jackets earned an at-large bid after falling in the OAC semifinals to Ohio Northern...its the seventh "Sweet Sixteen" appearance and fifth-straight NCAA Tournament trip for Baldwin Wallace, who advanced out of the regional with wins over Trinity and New Paltz last weekend...in its 18th NCAA Tournament all-time, the last Elite Eight appearance for the Yellow Jackets was in 2006....in her 34th season, head coach Cheri Harrer has 688 career victories...Baldwin Wallace was well represented in the Ohio Athletic Conference league awards, including Bella Vaillant (First Team OAC), Caely Ressler (Second Team OAC), and Emily Irwin (OAC honorable mention).
UW-Oshkosh Titans (24-5)

The UW-Oshkosh Titans went 12-2 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play to claim their 15th regular season title and netted an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament after losing to UW-Stout in WIAC title game...The Titans cruised to a pair of NCAA regional wins at home last weekend over Webster and Trine to reach their 11th "Sweet Sixteen" and ninth under head coach Brad Fischer... In his 12th season, Fischer became the winningest coach in program history Nov. 27. He currently owns a 260-70 record, which also sits sixth in league history, and was named the 2024 WIAC Coach of the Year... Kennedy Osterman and Kayce Vaile were recognized as First Team All-WIAC in postseason awards handed out by the league...the Titans won the NCAA Division III Championship in 1996...their most recent trip to the "Elite Eight" was in 2022.
Smith College Pioneers (27-3)

Coming off the most successful season in school history in 2023, Smith returns to the "Sweet Sixteen" for the fourth time and is looking for their second-straight trip to the Division III Final Four...in her 17th season at the helm, head coach Lynn Hersey is the program's all-time leader in wins (310) and led the Pioneers to their fourth NEWMAC championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament this winter...Smith defeated Maine Maritime and Messiah at home last weekend to advance to the sectional rounds... the Pioneers are currently ranked first in the NCAA in FG% and 3PT FG% and boast three 1,000-point scorers on their roster: Jessie Ruffner, Ally Yamada, Sofia Rosa...Ruffner was named the NEWMAC Player of the Year and is the only player in school history with 1,300 points, 600 rebounds, and 300 assists...she was joined by Rosa and Yamada as First Team All-Conference choices.
