LAST WEEK
Behind a school-record five touchdown passes from first-year
Peter Macaulay,
Bowdoin sprinted to a lead and never trailed against Bates in an eventual 35-24 win. Tufts scored late touchdowns in both the second and third quarters and held off a late rally by the Mules as
Colby dropped a 28-21 contest to the Jumbos in Waterville.
CBB UPDATE
Bowdoin defeated Bates last week, and Colby earned a 28-26 win over the Bobcats earlier this season to set up today's CBB title match-up. Bowdoin is looking to repeat as CBB champs for the first time since winning three straight from 2006-08. Colby is looking for their first crown since 2021. Bowdoin has claimed 20 CBB championships overall with Colby winning 17. Bates has 14 titles and there have been six three-way ties in the series history dating back to 1965.
SACKING THE RECORD BOOKS
With a league-best 10.0 sacks on the season,
Koy Price is 0.5 behind the single-season program record of 10.5 set by Fred Lohrum in 1985. Additionally, his 18.5 career sacks are currently fourth all-time, trailing only Kevin Saxton '99 (23.0), Dan Hart '95 (20.5), and Scott Wilkin '90 (20.5). As a team, Bowdoin has already posted a school record 33.0 sacks as a team (4.12/game), and ranks third in Division III, behind only DePauw (4.25/game), Wittenberg (4.14/game), and is tied with Mount Union (4.12/game).
POLAR BEARS BY THE NUMBERS
Bowdoin currently ranks sixth in the conference in points (21.8/game) and has allowed the third-fewest sacks (15).
Peter Macaulay is off to a hot start, throwing for seven touchdowns in his first two games under center for Bowdoin, the most in consecutive games by a Polar Bear first-year since
Andrew Boel threw for eight touchdowns in back-to-back games as a rookie against Wesleyan and Amherst in 2021. Defensively, the Polar Bears are the top team in the conference in rushing the passer (see above), and rank third in the league in opponent third down conversions (34.5%) and opponent first downs (17.1/game). In addition to leading the conference in sacks,
Koy Price also leads the conference in tackles for loss (13.5), and forced fumbles (3).
SCOUTING THE MULES
Colby's offense (20.3 points/game) and defense (20.3 points/game) are producing at an identical rate this season and, other than a ten-point loss to Trinity in week one, and a 38-7 blowout of Amherst last month, have played every other game to eight points or less (one possession), either way. Â Keon Smart is second in the league in rushing (82.3 yards/game) while quarterback Drake Miles has thrown for 1,552 yards and rushed for 168 more to rank sixth in the NESCAC in total offense. Defensively, Julian Young is second in the league in tackles (8.1/game) and Jack Mullen ranks second in the league to
Koy Price in sacks (8.5).
LAST MEETING
Last year in Waterville,
Bowdoin dominated from start-to-finish in a 35-14 victory over the Mules. The Polar Bears led 21-0 at halftime and added two more touchdowns in a five-minute span in the second half to cruise to the win, their first in Waterville since 2010.

BOWDOIN vs. COLBY – ALL TIME
At 134 meetings, the Bowdoin-Colby game dates back to 1892 and is the third-longest rivalry in Division III football, standing behind only Williams-Amherst (136) and Kalamazoo-Albion (135). The Polar Bears won eight straight to open the series history from 1892-1896 and hold a 72-53-9 overall edge. Bowdoin has won the last two meetings and is looking for their first three-game winning streak against Colby since claiming six in a row between 2006-2011.
