NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine – The Bowdoin College cross country teams posted strong showings at Saturday's Bates Invitational, hosted at Pineland Farms. The Polar Bear women finished second in a seven-team field while the men's squad earned fourth in a ten-team competition.
 
Women's Meet Highlights

• The Polar Bears finished second only to the Bobcats, who totaled 38 points. Bowdoin finished with 54, ahead of Colby (72) and Brandeis (77), UNE (111), WPI (173) and UMF (181).
• First-year Angelina Hickey continued her strong rookie campaign, finishing third in 23:02.3 on the 6k course.
• Lauren Traum also had a top-ten finish, placing eighth in a time of 23:20.6.
• Kaylee Hale (13^th, 23:37.7), Tori Bacall (17^th, 23:47.1), and Cam Meyer (18^th, 23:52.4) also recorded top-20 showings at the meet.

Men's Meet Highlights

• The Polar Bear men's team finished with 95 points, trailing Washington & Lee (34), MIT (83), and Bates (91) in the deep field.
• Will Goddard was runner-up individually, finishing in a time of 25:05.9 in the 8k, off the winning pace by slightly over four seconds.
• Seamus McDonough was close behind in seventh place with a time of 25:27.7, with Matthew Servin taking 11^th in 25:46.7.
• Ben Bockmann was the next top Bowdoin finisher, taking 34^th in 26:34.5.

• Bowdoin is off next weekend and will return to action on October 19 at the Connecticut College Invitational hosted at Harkness Memorial Park in Waterford, Conn. That will be the Polar Bears' final tune-up before the 2024 NESCAC Championship race in Brunswick on Saturday, November 2.
