LAST WEEK
Bowdoin traveled to Amherst last weekend and posted an impressive, and historic,
35-7 victory over the Mammoths. It was Bowdoin's most complete win of the season, and was their first win at Amherst since 2005 and largest margin of victory against the Mammoths since 1992. After tying the game on a field goal with 54 seconds left in regulation, the Cardinals walked off the Mules in overtime, as Jake Edwards scooped a fumble and returned it 88 yards for a
23-17 victory over Colby.
POLAR BEAR LEADERS
Bowdoin's defense has led the way this season, and has scored a touchdown in three straight games, an occurrence that is believed to be the first time in its 132 seasons of football. The Polar Bears have forced 12 turnovers, the most in the conference (six interceptions, six fumbles) and also lead the NESCAC in sacks (19).
Aidan Reidy (9.0 TFL) and
Koy Price (8.5 TFL) lead the league in tackles for loss while
Ferris Collins is second in the conference in interceptions (3) and pass breakups (5). Bowdoin is fourth in the conference in rushing offense (120.0 yards/game) thanks to a balanced attack that includes three players in the top 17 rushers in the conference (
Robbie Long,
Michael Wolfendale,
Sean Ramos).
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
Wesleyan's defense has also been stingy, permitting just 12.8 points per game (second in NESCAC) and 259.2 yards per game (first in NESCAC). Niko Candido leads the Cardinals offensively, averaging 273.8 yards of total offense per game to stand second in the league. Chase Wilson is his top target, and ranks first in the league, with 112.8 yards/game receiving with six touchdowns. Ben Carbeau leads the Cardinals and ranks second in the NESCAC in tackles (8.0/game) and eighth in sacks (3.5).
LAST MEETING
Last year in Middletown, Bowdoin mounted a furious 23-point comeback in the fourth quarter, but came up just short in a
35-30 loss to the Cardinals.
 Â
BOWDOIN vs. WESLEYAN – ALL-TIME
Bowdoin won the last meeting in Brunswick in 2022 (
a 28-26 Polar Bear win), which had snapped a nine-game winning streak by the Cardinals in the series. The teams have met 96 times dating back to a 0-0 tie in 1906. Wesleyan leads the all-time series 62-32-2.
