Track & Field Posts Wins, Top-Five Finishes at New England Small College Invite

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bowdoin College track & field team posted several strong performances at the New England Small College Invitational hosted by Middlebury at the Track at New Balance on Sunday.

Meet Highlights

In a non-scoring meet that featured numerous NESCAC schools, Bowdoin athletes held their own with a number of top-five showings.
The Bowdoin women got a victory from Kianne Benjamin in the 200m (24.73), while Kennedy Kirkland was right behind in 25.61, placing third.
Ginger Arnold earned the other victory for the Polar Bears, winning the shot put with a throw of 11.32m.
Arnold's performance paced an excellent day in the field events for the Polar Bear women, as Jenna Albanese was second in the long jump (5.46m), Charlotte Hodge was fourth in the pole vault (3.50m), and Corinne Ahern took second in the weight throw (14.75m).
For the Bowdoin men Kane Demers led the way, placing third in the 60m hurdles (8.44), fourth in the long jump (6.47m), and fifth in the 200m (22.18).
Max Russo was third in the 400m (49.11), and Will Goddard collected a fourth-place showing in the 3000m race (8:29.04). In the field events, Nick Sibiryakov was fifth in the pole vault (4.40m), and Justin Whitney took fifth in the triple jump (12.60m).

This weekend is Maine State Championship weekend for the Polar Bears, with the University of Southern Maine hosting both the men's and women's meet beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3.
