BRUNSWICK, Maine – Bowdoin College sophomore
Gabe Shipper (Sherman Oaks, Calif.) has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Hockey Player of the Week.
In the only game of the week for Bowdoin, Shipper scored twice in the first period to propel the Polar Bears to a 5-1 win over Colby on Saturday night. Shipper opened the scoring to give Bowdoin a 1-0 lead and added a second tally midway through the period to push the Polar Bears' advantage to 3-0. It was the largest margin of victory in small college hockey's longest-running rivalry since 1994, and Shipper was named the Peter Schuh Memorial Award winner as MVP of the contest.
Bowdoin will return to action on Friday evening when they host Amherst at 7:00 p.m. at Watson Arena.
