NEW GLOUCESTER, Maine – The Bowdoin College cross country teams swept their season-opening CBB Race on a steamy Tuesday afternoon at Pineland Farms. The Polar Bear cruised to victories in both the men's and women's races, defeating in-state rivals Bates and Colby to open their campaigns.
 
Meet Highlights

• The women's team placed seven in the top ten of the approximately 2.8 mile race, posting 22 points to easily defeat Bates (61) and Colby (66).
• The men's team had the top six finishers of their 3.8 mile event, totaling the minimum 15 points to defeat Bates (49) and Colby (92).
• On the women's side, Lauren Traum led the charge for Bowdoin with a second place showing (18:25), followed closely by Abby Mueller (18:26) and Claire Wyman (18:33).
• Emma Barker (6^th, 18:36), Tori Bacall (7^th, 18:40), Jane Hirschman (8^th, 18:45), and Andrea Becker (10^th, 18:52) rounded out the top finishers for the Polar Bears
• For the men's team, Bowdoin's top six runners all finished within 23 seconds, and averaged a sub-5:17 mile pace.
• Brooks Peters came away in first at 19:41, followed by Will Goddard (19:50), Seamus McDonough (19:57), Ben Bockmann (20:02), Sam Angevine (20:03), and Oliver Brandes (20:04) as the top six finishers in the race.
