BRUNSWICK, Maine – Three members of the Bowdoin men's lacrosse team have been recognized in USILA Division III All-American honors announced on Wednesday.
Zack Goorno (Concord, Mass.) was named the Division III Short-Stick Defensive Midfielder of the Year and a First Team All-American while attackman
Will Byrne (Darien, Conn.) was named Second Team All-American and faceoff specialist
Ethan Barnard (Boxford, Mass.) collected Honorable Mention honors.
Goorno becomes Bowdoin's third First Team All-American, joining Barnard (2022) and Connor Fitzgerald (2006) as the only Polar Bears to garner first team recognition. A two-time First Team All-NESCAC choice, Goorno dominated on both ends of the field, collecting 29 points while also earning 68 ground balls this season. He was an Honorable Mention All-American last spring.
Will Byrne gets promoted to Second Team All-American after also receiving Honorable Mention recognition last season for Bowdoin. He enjoyed another fantastic campaign which also included First Team All-NESCAC recognition earlier this month, pacing the team with an 83-point season that included 38 assists, ranking second in the conference. In 37 career games, Byrne has posted 113 goals and 71 assists, ranking just outside the top-ten in Bowdoin history in both categories after just two seasons.
Ethan Barnard nets his second straight USILA postseason award, collecting Honorable Mention honors after another fantastic year on the faceoff dot for the Polar Bears. Barnard won 62.3% of his faceoffs (291-467) and led the team with 138 ground balls on the year. For his career, he owns an incredibly consistent 62.4 win percentage (682-1093) with 13 goals and nine assists.
Bowdoin finished another fantastic season with an 11-5 record, and number 12 ranking in the final pre-Division III Tournament USILA Coaches Poll.
