Zack Goorno Named Assistant Coach for the Men's Lacrosse Program

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College Athletic Department has welcomed back Zack Goorno, a 2024 graduate, as assistant coach for the men's lacrosse program.

One of the most accomplished players in program history, Goorno was a two-time USILA Division III Short Stick Midfielder of the Year (2023, '24), two-time USILA First Team All-American (2023, '24) and three-time First Team All-NESCAC selection in his career with the Polar Bears.

After graduating in the spring of 2024 as a Sarah & James Bowdoin Scholar with a degree in Psychology, he took a postgraduate year at the University of Maryland, pursuing a Master's Degree in Professional Students in Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Corporate Engineering. He also played in 18 games for the Terrapins, who finished the season with a 14-4 record and ended the year as national runners-up to Cornell.

Goorno, who was a Fifth Round draft pick in the 2024 National Lacrosse League draft, has also served as a club coach for 3D New England Lacrosse that included coordinating duties as well as one-on-one skill development. He will join Bill Mason's coaching staff that has helped lead the Polar Bears to two of the most successful years in program history, including consecutive appearances in the NCAA Division III semifinals in 2024 and '25.
