BRUNSWICK, Maine – Four members of the Bowdoin College men's lacrosse team have been honored in All-New England Teams announced by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association.
Attackman
Will Byrne (Darien, Conn.) was named First Team All-New England while defenseman
Jed Hoggard (Acton, Mass.), face-off specialist
Ethan Barnard (Boxford, Mass.) and short stick defensive midfielder
Zack Goorno (Concord, Mass.) were named Second Team.
Byrne enjoyed another fantastic campaign which also included First Team All-NESCAC recognition earlier this month. He paced the team with an 83-point season that included 38 assists, ranking second in the conference. In 37 career games, Byrne has posted 113 goals and 71 assists, ranking just outside the top-ten in Bowdoin history in both categories after just two seasons.
Goorno was a First Team All-NESCAC choice as well, playing on both ends of the field for the Polar Bears, scoring 29 points while collecting 68 ground balls, to rank second on the team. Barnard, a Second Team All-NESCAC selection, won 62.3% of his faceoffs (291-467) and led the team with 138 ground balls on the year. Hoggard collects the first postseason award of his career, causing 13 turnovers and grabbing 24 ground balls in 16 games this season.
