BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin College men's tennis team will open pursuit of its fourth conference title when it plays in the 2023 New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship beginning Friday in Vermont.
The Polar Bears (13-3 / 8-2 NESCAC) are the second seed for the tournament and will open against seventh-seeded Bates at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon at Middlebury College. Williams will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Saturday and Sunday.
The Polar Bears have qualified for the NESCAC Championship 20 times since 2001 and are the No. 2 seed for the first time since 2016. The Polar Bears earned a 6-3 win over Bates on April 12 and improved to 2-0 versus the Bobcats in the NESCAC Tournament with a 5-2 victory in the 2017 quarterfinals. Bowdoin, which won four straight matches to close the regular season, captured two of its three NESCAC titles in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018.
