Â
LAST WEEKÂ
The Polar Bears won their
first CBB title since 2010, beating Colby 35-14 in Waterville to complete a sweep of their Maine rivals. Trinity dominated Wesleyan in a
rivalry game in Middletown, 58-6. Â
Â
SCHEDULE CHANGE
Due to the tragic events in Lewiston last month, today will be the first time Bowdoin concludes its season against someone other than Colby since 1992, when the Polar Bears played Tufts in Galway, Ireland on November 29. Other than that Tufts contest in Ireland, this will be the latest calendar date of a game in Bowdoin football history.Â
Â
RECORD SETTING POLAR BEARS
As the Polar Bears enter their final game of the season, a number of athletes have already etched their names into the Bowdoin record books. Tight end
Brendan King has set the new school record for touchdown receptions in a season (8) while
Colton Fahey is making a late attempt to tie him, catching six entering the final week. Fahey, the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Week, established new school records for career receiving yards (2,068, breaking a 12-year-old record) and career touchdown receptions (16, breaking a record that stood since 1965). Fahey ranks second in the NESCAC in receiving yards this season (107.1 per game) and first in yards per catch (19.0).
Andre Eden enters the game with 2,119 rushing yards, standing sixth all-time at Bowdoin and has 19 rushing touchdowns, standing fourth in school history. Additionally, quarterback
Andrew Boel will end his career at Bowdoin with 4,993 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, ranking second in school history in both categories. Collectively, Bowdoin is looking to post its first winning season since 2005.Â
Â
SCOUTING THE BANTAMS
Trinity ranks first in the conference in total offense (466.3 yards/game) and total defense (249.5 yards/game). Individually, quarterback Spencer Fetter leads the league in yards, touchdowns and pass efficiency this season. Sean Clapp paces the conference with a league-best 52 receptions for 918 yards. On defense, Ma-Lyke Davis and Tyler Jameson are tied for second in the conference with four interceptions apiece.
Â
LAST MEETING
Last year in Hartford, the Bantams used a
21-point second quarter to pull away for a 38-3 victory.
Â
BOWDOIN vs. TRINITY – ALL-TIME
Trinity has won 23 straight against Bowdoin, dating back to 1999. It is the longest current winning streak by any team against the Polar Bears. The Bantams hold a 43-6-2 edge in the all-time series and Bowdoin's last victory over the Bantams came in a 19-0 decision in 1998.
