Box Score BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Bowdoin men's ice hockey team concluded the regular season with a 4-3 overtime victory against Tufts University on Saturday evening.
The Polar Bears pick up a pair of wins before heading into the post-season, ending the regular season with an 8-9-4 (8-7-3 NESCAC) record. The Jumbos are 5-15-2 (5-11-2 NESCAC) to conclude the regular schedule.
- Bowdoin went ahead 1-0 just 31 seconds into the game. Patrick Callahan worked along the boards in the left corner and came away with the puck. Callahan circled around the back of the net to the opposite side and found Wheeler in the slot with a centering pass. Wheeler lined up a one-timer to put Bowdoin ahead.
- On the Jumbo's first power play of the game midway through the period, the visitors peppered Alex Kozic with seven shots on net.
- Tufts got on the board 7:11 into the second period. Mason Kohn intercepted a pass in the Tufts defensive end and made a quick pass up to Marek Pechr. Pechr found Tyler Sedlak for a breakaway and one-on-one opportunity, burying a puck glove side.
- Bowdoin answered 19 seconds later. Jesse Lycan put a shot on pads and Patrick Ault converted on the rebound to regain the lead for the Polar Bears.
- With three minutes remaining in the period, Tufts tied the game. Sam Miller dropped a pass back to Andrew Maynard along the left boards. Maynard slid a pass across the ice to Jacob Iida for a one-timer.
- The Polar Bears scored with a second remaining to capture the lead again. Jimmy Duffy arced along the top of the zone and put a shot towards the right post. Jack Studley tipped the puck as it came in, putting it in the net.
- With 12 seconds remaining, Tyler Sedlak went top shelf from directly in front of the crease off a feed from Harrison Bazianos behind the net.
- Callahan won a faceoff on the left side in overtime and kicked the puck to Nate Clark. Clark skated in and converted on the opportunity end the game 4-3 in favor of Bowdoin.
